Purple Madness

Purple has been with me since elementary. And when I'm in highschool there I realized that it was my favorite color, not pink nor yellow that I thought I really love. (That's how power rangers influenced me as a kid.. haha).

Since then I love to collect purple stuffs, to wear and eat anything purple. I have always been biased with purple. Whenever I see any shades of it (lavender, lilac, violet) it totally drive away my stress. It brightens my day. It has always been an apple of my eye, the subject of my affection.

Long Hair No More

Elementary . Highschool. College

For those stages of schooling I am labeled to have a long hair, not just a long hair: A healthy, black and straight hair. (I'm just stating the facts, period.. hahaha)

I have always been afraid to go out of my comfort zone. Just like with my hair, I have a haircut just once or twice in a year. And I am not used on playing with hair ties after elementary where I have my hair stylist named Rachelle. For sometime I just play with it, put some bangs, one side or kimpy, rebond and even put a highlights on it, but it's still a LONG HAIR after all.

This is my last photo with long hair taken last Dec. 18, 2011

Bigger, Better and Brighter Christmas Tree

Christmas season would be incomplete without decors and bright lights. Filipinos tend to start decorating their houses as early as September comes.

Since I was a child I love to see big Christmas trees, with different sizes and colors, with flowers, bells and balls hanging in there, and of course, the gifts below it. And sometimes when I drop by in some houses, I asked myself, “Do I have my name written on it?”. It’s so exciting and overwhelming whenever I receive wrap gifts. But more that that, I enjoy wrapping gifts my self rather than receiving and like the saying goes, “it is better to give than to receive”. It values more than money putted in envelop, because the effort of thinking what the best gift for you is there.

This baby Shasta tree was with us every Christmas celebration. When we realized it’s small and wrap presents are bigger than it, we place it atop of our divider which makes it positioned better.

Goodbye Twenteen, Hello Twenty One!

Turning at twenty one is another milestone in my life’s journey. Saying goodbye to the past 365 days made me realize that it was like a total roller coaster ride. There are many things that happened and even changed me, mold me as a person in all aspects.  There were lots of twists and turns, ups and downs when I was at twenty and so grateful for all the blessings I received and some are listed below:
  • I came back to dancing.
  • I was born again.
  • I graduated as BS Information Technology.
  • I got my first job, ever!
  • I became a SEO Specialist.
  • I fell in love. Bleh! :P

Trick or Treat with ZomBaliw

As the first day of November comes, Filipinos, particularly the Roman Catholics, as a tradition used to light candles in front of their houses in memories of their love ones.

This season, the All Saint’s and all Soul’s day would never be complete without these spooky stuffs:
  • Halloween Party
  • Horror Movies
  • Trick or Treat
  • Haunted houses and places trips

Unlike the usual activities of Filipino kids, who loved to play and collect the dried fallen candle waxes on the night of November 1st, , things already changed. Since last year, children living in our village started to have a trick or treat. It seems like it’s another version of caroling at Christmas, but on the shortest way and most prepared way, putting make ups, bringing pumpkins and buckets and singing or shouting, “Happy Halloween, Trick or Treat!” The houses around our village warmly enjoy those kids having fun as they gave money and candies. I think these kids were really inspired and influenced by watching one of the famous cartoons in their generation, Spongebob Squarepants.

Belated happy teacher’s day! It’s better to be late than never.

This is my way to recognize my great college professors at Bulacan State University-Sarmiento Campus with utmost appreciation and sweetest thoughts ever. I salute each of them as they continue to impart the best knowledge and thoughts they can contribute to their beloved students. They work not just to earn money, but they love their profession as mentors and builders of the future generation. Teachers are the living heroes. Let’s get to know them one by one.

Nescafe 3in1 Sweet n’ Mild Jingle: “Good Morning sa Inyo”

After Nescafe’s famous slogan “Para kanino ka bumabangon” (For whom do you wake up?), here comes another advertisement that left in the minds of the Filipino viewers. As their new product Nescafe 3in1 Sweet ‘n Mild was endorsed, here is “Good Morning sa Inyo” (Good morning to you) jingle.

This was indeed a hit! Anywhere and anytime of the day, I am hearing this from people: of any age and professions, almost everyone loves this jingle. This also turns out to be a last song syndrome (LSS). Super contagious!

Dinner at Pizza Hut

For a long window shopping at Mall of Asia, I found myself hungry and craving for pizza. What’s my first restaurant choice? It’s Pizza Hut.

My craving for pizza lost when I’ve seen these mouthwatering photos of pasta and I realized I’m stocked in menu’s pasta section. Fettuccine was my favorite pasta recipe and wherever restaurant I go I want to eat their rendition of my favorite creamy dish. Since I already tasted it here, now I tried this unfamiliar pasta dish to me, the Three-Cheese Ravioli (Php 189.00/ USD 4.40).

Cool Long Weekend with Coca Cola Glasses

Coca Cola glasses collectibles is our bonding partner for a very cool long weekend.

We can’t afford to take a vacation on Boracay, have an Asian tour, or even go to Enchanted Kingdom to celebrate the long weekend. Our family stayed in the house, we bond playing Angry Birds, scrutinizing the features of my Kuya’s newly bought Samsung Wave cellphone and eating meals together with the limited edition, Coca Cola glasses.

It was the first time we used the 6 collectible glasses offered by Mcdo. In order to avail it, I have to buy a meal. Each meal I bought costs about P 64+ plus P 25 per glass is equal to P 500+. That’s a bit costly for 6 glasses, but it’s all worth it. This is the perfect partner while having a great time with family and friends.

For The Third Time, A SNATCHER Seated Beside Me

I used to ride in an economy bus from my place to work and it takes 1.5 – 2 hours of travel. I've experienced so many people come in and out of the bus, of different ages and different purposes. Here’s the fact: I've already encountered for 3 times that a snatcher seated beside me. I commonly seat 1-2 rows behind the driver. I’ll tell you my story.

First of all, these snatchers all ride between the Kamias and Aurora area (Going to south).

Snatcher #1: May 2011. Two ordinary-looking men (one w/ a hat), carrying no bags ride on the bus. The one seated beside me and the other seated beside a sleeping man on the row opposite to my side. The one tries to “kapkap” the sleeping man’s bag (btw, he looks a construction guy). Fortunately the potential victim awakened and then they had very strong exchange of words. The snatcher hardly denies. Those exchanges of words turned into punches. Whoa! They’re inside the bus and the bus driver even closed the 2 doors! Then the snatchers left disappointed and very, very mad. (Thank God, I’m awake that time and the snatcher seated beside me did not make me a victim.)

MEATIER SHOWER: Raining Cheese Burgers!

What will you do if it will rain with cheeseburger, pizza, chicken wings, or even steak? All the foods that you think will just pour out like a rain down from the sky… Not just that, even creating the whole town into an ice cream land. Whoa! So amazing right? Just enjoy the moment, and eat all you can! I’m about to present a review about this silly yet so funny movie – Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

At first I have no idea of what this movie all about. My younger sister just borrowed the DVD until it captivated my attention due to its intense humor and gluttony moments.  I made a research and found out that this is a film created last 2009 under the production of Sony Pictures Animation and distributed by Columbia Pictures. It is the second 3D animated film after Monster House (a great film, too) made using animation rendering software, “Arnold” and the open source image toolkit OpenImageIO. The story was based on children’s book with the same title by Judi and Ron Barrett. This was showed in Japan and other countries, unfortunately not here in the Philippines.

Here’s the plot:

“Have you ever felt like you were a little bit different? Like you had something unique to offer the world, if you could just get people to see it. Then you know exactly how it felt to be me.” – Flint Lockwood

It all started in the town named Swallow Falls, a place where the residents where fed up only by sardines (fried, boiled, fresh, and juiced). Flint Lockwood (main protagonist) was a mad-scientist. At a very young age, he concluded that the world’s main problem that is facing is the untied shoelace. Then, he solved this with a “Spray On shoes” that had no way of taking off and that became a disaster. He was bullied and called a “nerd” by his colleagues. He still continued to do his will and at the same time get the acceptance by all the people in Swallow Falls. He then created mad-science inventions that all turned out into disaster (e.g. rat birds) until his latest invention, the Flint Lockwood's Diatomic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator (or the FLDSMDFR), a device which turns water into food, believing that their sardine dependency will be solved.

Accidentally, the device received a super high voltage that made it go up in the sky. For scientific results, it rained with the first ever food he entered in the program, cheese burgers. Voila! His invention worked out!
The gray life at Swallow Falls has gradually bloomed and changed its name to ‘Chew and Swallow’ and Flint was asked by the mayor to serve 3 meals pr day. All served foods are made-to-order. Breakfast: sunny-side-up, Lunch: Chicken wings, Dinner: steak, and for kids: nips and gummy bears.

Everyday have different meals, and the land of Sardine will soon become a tourist spot. All foods are all edible until the device absorbed great amount of water and worked out very strange which turned all those edible foods into huge sizes that could destroy the town. And not just that, it created a tornado of Spaghetti which frightened all nations because it can destroy the world in just 20 minutes!

To solve this, he flew to the sky and seen that the device is inside a giant meatball where the water goes to the top and a food hurricane goes at the bottom. As the machine set ups to throw a final blast of giant food, Flint was able to use his Spray-On Shoes formula to block the mouth of the device, causing the FLDSMDFR and the meatball to explode in the sky and the typhoon of foods gone away. And the world was saved.

In the end his father, Tim, was finally able to tell his real feelings for his son using his thought-translator invention and able to kiss her love desire in the story, Sam Sparks, an intern weather forecaster that helped him at the climax of the story. Read the full plot here.

THE STRONG POINTS:
  • A disastrous movie next to the “The Day After Tomorrow” and “2012”.
  • The witty story was really awesome! A Mouthwatering story.  I really commend the imaginative authors.
  • It surely satisfies the eyes of a hungry tummy and captivates the attention of kids.
  • Lesson: From Flint, that dreams is to be accepted by everyone and create something that will make him popular. When it finally happened, still, he got no approval from his Father. A family member’s approval is seriously important. But, as the story goes, you don’t have to impress others, just be true to yourself.
  • Sort of a wholesome love story for Flint and Sam, cute!
  • It showed two types of father: The one who says “I love you” to his child everyday and the other who is lacking of thoughts but is sincerely proud of his child. Who do you have?
  • The super-duper humorous lines and actions delivered by the entire cast.
  • The animation and effects are wonderful!
  • I’m sure it will inspire the kids with the science magic.

THE WEAK POINTS:
  • It might scare kids ages 8 and below because of the effects of hurricane and what’s in the inner part of the giant meatball.
  • Some lines are super scientific which cannot be easily understood by the audience. (No doubt, Flint is a scientist)
  • The movie turned out too long.
  • The story from the book is a lot different from the movie (that’s what they said, I haven’t read it yet).

This is a great movie I highly recommend to watch by parents and kids not less than 9 years old because there are some parts of the story that might frightened them so much. Over all I enjoyed it, the story, the animation, the direction. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is an all-out-funny movie that touches my heart and left me closed to teary eyes.

My rating: 9/10

100 Days to Heaven: A Wake up Call

For most people, it’s the end of their long day but for me it’s just the beginning. You can call me a vampire because I used to be awake during night. My work starts at 11:00 pm (8:00 LA time) and so I alarm my phone at 7:30 pm. I always hear my alarm but my bed always pulls me to continue sleeping. I used to turn off it off, and get back to sleep again.

What really makes me stand and go out of bed? It’s when I hear its soundtrack, the voices of the characters, and most especially, the one who takes the lead role, the young Ana Manalastas (Xyriel Anne Manabat) in 100 Days to Heaven.

She’s indeed the star of the show. I’m a fan of Filipino television, and I’ve seen lots of child stars, some continue to shine, and some lost their fame as their appeal and cuteness gone away.  But with Xyriel, no one is greater than here, and I believe no body can object me saying that, right?

I first watched Xyriel at Star Circle Quest (SQC) Kiddie Quest Season 3 Grand Finals. When she showed her acting talent, she really captivated me. Unfortunately, she didn’t win the first place. I believe she’s 4-year old that time, but I know ABS-CBN discovered she have the potential.

They gave her first break when she portrayed the young Agua and Bendita, and that time I didn’t know she’s the one I watched in SQC. The part that strikes me in her role is when Bendita colored her skin blue, with teary eyes, talking to her mother, saying these words, “Sana ako nalang ang nawala at hindi si Agua  para hindi kayo nagkakaganyan! (I wished I’m the one who gone and not Bendita so you wont be that way!)

Following this teleserye, she was blessed to have her first major role, “Momay”, a young ghost. Unfortunately, I was unable to watch her due to my tight class schedule (I’m graduating that time). And then as she continues to bloom, she then joined in Noah with Zaijan (known as Santino). Finally, she now grab a place where home of Kings and Queens of drama only takes place, in the Primetime Bida, and strike to be the lead role in 100 Days to Heaven with Coney Sison (old Ana Manalastas).

I really don’t wanna miss every line and every moment she had in her primetime show. She’s really “bibbo”. Her eyes really speak and her dialogues look like she means what she says, she drives me, oh! Her role as Ana is getting back to life to make good deeds within 100 days to the people she hurt when she was alive. The challenge here is Ana Manalastas get back to life with the mind of a 45-year old woman and with the body of a 7-year old child.

I can never think of anybody that could portray this role the way Xyriel does. She deserves awards and be recognize not only in the Philippines but around the world. Her “pagtataray” with eyes opening wide and lips controlling here thoughts makes her really cute and adorable, jiving with her deliverance of lines, it is so amazing how she memorize those lines, acting like she’s really a professional. Her famous line: “Kuha mo?! (get it?!)” is really like an LSS to me.

I also recognize the cast of it most especially with the “nakakilig moments” of Sophia (Jodi Sta.Maria) and Bart (Rafael Rossel). They are really great with their role together and with the other casts and guests which made the teleserye a big success.

The overall creation of 100 days to Heaven was really good. They don’t just make teleserye for nothing, they made something that makes sense and I commend the staff and the production for that. I’m looking forward that the Filipino television will be turned up side down with this type of show that is far from violence and lust. General patronage should be widely spread here in our country.

I love watching it, though there are times I rushed of time because I can’t take a bath while the show is ongoing, of course I don’t want to miss every part of it and fortunately, I still arrive in the office on or before time:D.

I recommend this teleserye for the whole family to watch, it is a great bonding for everyone. See how Ana Manalastas captivates your heart and turn your bad day into good – that’s the magic of her presence. Xyriel is indeed bibbo, charming, intelligent and adorable. KUHA MO?!

SONA 2011 P-NOY Review

I'm plotting here the positive and negative points of the State of the Nation Address 2011 by President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.
Overall as I expected, he memorized his speech, which means that he knows what he is saying. Though I know that speeches we’re made by his writers, it was quite a compliment for P-Noy because he still has the final view. His deliverance is really great. I like the fact that he continued his “wang wang” operations and convert its meaning into “corruption”. The speech has a lot of humor but tackles serious matter. He avoids mentioning names of the persons involved in ”wangwang” which is quite respectful. My favorite part there is when he delivered these lines:

Humorous but makes sense right?

On the other side, half of his speech was so technical. Some of them cannot be easily understood by most Filipinos in a one time listening without explaining very deep. And i'm kinda sleepy, too.

Honestly the achievements that he showed, like in agriculture, infrastructure, justice, etc. I really don’t know about it. I commend the government for that big achievement in just a year. I’m looking forward for more success stories of our country with P-Noy’s administration.

His more than 50-minute speech was a pretty good. Ooops.. But i think something is missing.. He did not tackle about the education programs, right? Like building schools, rooms, giving books and computers. Why was it President P-Noy?

We should work hand in hand in achieving this goal. Remember, together we stand, divided we fall. Stop pointing only the negative facts. Why don’t we focus on the positive side and nurture it. Let us all stop pulling each other down, instead, help on another lift and aim high.

Help stop “wangwang”. Stop crab-mentality.

I.O.U (I owe you) - Lee Greenwood

You believe, that l've changed your life forever
And you're never gonna find another somebody like me.
And you wish, you had more than just a lifetime to give back all
I've given you and that's what you believe.
But I owe you the sunlight in the morning
And the nights of honest lovin that time can't take away.
And I owe you more than life now, more than ever
I know that it's the sweetest debt I'll ever have to pay.

I'm amazed when you say it's me you live for
You know that when I'm holding you you're right where you belong
And my love, I can't help but smile with wonder.
When you tell me all I've done for you 'Cause I've known all
along.
THAT I owe you the sunlight in the morning
And the nights of honest loving that time can't take away.
And I owe you more than life now, more than ever
I know that it's the sweetest debt I'll ever have to pay.

'Cause I owe you the sunlight in the morning
And the nights of honest loving that time can't take away. And
I owe you more than life now, more than ever
I know that it's the sweetest debt I'll ever have to pay.
